Tencel© Lyocell
Our first showcase is on the fantastic Tencel© Lyocell.
Tencel© is a branded lyocell fiber, which is created from the cellulose found in wood pulp. The fibers are created by dissolving wood pulp from trees in a non-toxic organic solvent, and then this mixture is extruded through tiny holes to create the fiber. The solvent used is then recycled back into the fiber manufacturing in a CLOSED LOOP process. This means that 99% of the non-harmful solvent is reused and hardly any waste is created.
No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing or finishing of the fibers and the wood pulp used is sustainable and traceable. The use of water is kept at a minimum (unlike cotton production, which can use more than 20,000 litres of water to produce 1kg of cotton - the equivalent of a tshirt and pair of jeans), and emissions and energy usage is kept to the minimum.
This amazingly eco friendly fiber is also absolutely beautiful to wear.
It's extremely moisture absorbent, which will keep you super cool and comfortable.
Its wicking properties mean any moisture absorbed will be released into the air.
Because of this moisture management, the fabric is hygienic and the formation of bacteria is reduced (meaning no bad smells)
Soft and silky, its great for sensitive skin or for exercise that needs comfortable fabrics.
